On average, military families move every 2-3 years. Military children typically move six to ten times before graduating high school.
Frequent moves contribute to a high military spouse unemployment rate of 22%.

On my first military move, I shed tears waving goodbye to my family and friends. I started over in an unfamiliar place, unpacking broken possessions in a house that didn’t feel like a home yet.
Over the years, we became a family in these homes. We brought our babies home. They took their first steps and said their first words. We had numerous homecomings, birthdays, and holiday celebrations in these homes. Moving so often is full of challenges, but each one has surprised me in unexpected ways.
